Oral Surgery With Honesty and Care
Oral surgery can be an important part of protecting your oral health and relieving discomfort. At Valley View Dental, Dr. Brady Carlen provides oral surgery services right here in our Logan office, so you can receive care in a familiar, comfortable setting.
We take time to explain what’s needed, why it matters, and what to expect—so nothing feels rushed or confusing.

A Calm, Patient-First Approach
We understand that the idea of surgery can cause anxiety. Our team moves at your pace, answers your questions, and focuses on helping you feel at ease before, during, and after treatment.
Advanced Planning for Safer Care
Using CBCT 3D imaging, we carefully plan every procedure. This allows us to see important structures ahead of time and approach treatment with accuracy and confidence.

Convenient Care Close to Home
Many oral surgery procedures can be completed right here in our office, without the need for an outside referral. That means fewer appointments, less stress, and care from a team you already trust.

Conditions Oral Surgery Can Treat
Oral surgery may be recommended to address:
- Wisdom teeth that are painful, impacted, or crowding other teeth
- Teeth that cannot be saved and need removal
- Infections that require surgical treatment
- Bone loss that needs support before dental implants
- Damage caused by injury or trauma
Each recommendation is made thoughtfully, with your long-term comfort and health in mind.

Who May Need Oral Surgery
You may be a candidate for oral surgery if you’re experiencing ongoing discomfort, infection, or structural issues that can’t be treated with more conservative care.
Dr. Carlen will review your dental and medical history, evaluate imaging, and explain whether oral surgery is the right next step—or if other options are available.

Comfort & Sedation Options
Local Anesthesia
Numbs the treatment area so you stay comfortable. You’ll be awake, aware, and feel pressure but no discomfort.
Laughing Gas
Helps you feel relaxed and at ease during treatment. You remain awake and alert, and the effects wear off quickly.
Oral Sedation
Provides deeper relaxation for longer visits or higher anxiety. You may feel drowsy and remember little of the appointment. A ride home is required.
IV Sedation
Offers the deepest level of relaxation for surgical or complex care. Most patients remember very little and will need someone to drive them home.
Supporting Healing After Surgery
Healing is an important part of the process.
We’ll provide guidance on:
- Managing swelling
- Caring for the surgical area
- Eating and activity during recovery
- When to return for follow-up visits
Our goal is to support smooth healing and help you feel confident during recovery.

What to Expect During Oral Surgery
A Thoughtful Consultation
Your visit starts with listening. We’ll talk about symptoms, concerns, and goals, then use advanced imaging to understand what’s happening below the surface.
Clear Planning and Preparation
If surgery is recommended, we’ll explain the procedure in plain language and review comfort and sedation options. You’ll know what to expect before moving forward.
The Procedure
Oral surgery is performed using gentle techniques and careful planning. Comfort is always a priority, and we’ll check in with you throughout the process.
Healing and Recovery
Before you leave, we’ll provide clear aftercare instructions and review what healing may look like. Our team is available to answer questions as you recover.
