What to Bring
There’s no need to overthink it.
For your first visit, just bring:
- A photo ID
- Your dental insurance card, if you have one
- Any questions or concerns you’d like to talk through
If you haven’t filled out forms ahead of time, that’s okay. Our team will help you when you arrive.

What to Expect
Your visit starts with a conversation.
We’ll ask what brought you in and what matters most to you—whether that’s staying ahead of problems, improving your smile, or addressing a specific concern. From there, we’ll take any necessary images using modern technology designed to be efficient and comfortable.
Dr. Carlen will review everything with you, explain what he sees, and answer your questions in plain language. If treatment is recommended, we’ll talk through your options together and make a plan that feels clear and manageable.

Our Comfort Menu
Comfort isn’t an extra here. It’s part of how we care for you.
During your visit, you can choose from:
- Blankets and pillows
- Noise-cancelling headphones
- TVs in treatment rooms
- Music options
- A beverage bar
If you’re feeling especially anxious, sedation options are available, including nitrous, oral sedation, and IV sedation. We’ll talk through what feels right for you and move at your pace.

What Happens Next
Before you leave, we’ll make sure you feel confident about what comes next.
That might mean scheduling your next visit, reviewing insurance or financing options, or planning treatment in comfortable, step-by-step phases. Whatever the plan, you’ll know what to expect and have the time to ask questions.
Our goal is simple. You should leave feeling supported, informed, and glad you chose Valley View Dental.
